The village of Wilderness lies between the Wilderness Lakes District and the Kaaiman's River Pass. Encompassed within the boundaries of Wilderness lies the 2500 Ha Wilderness National Park.

Five rivers, five lakes, two estuaries and 18km of pristine coastline is protected within the Park. This rare and sensitive eco-system is home to a wealth of bird species including the elusive Knysna Loerie.
